It has been exactly 4 weeks since we attended this year’s Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair in the wonderful venue that is The Convention Centre on the Quays of Dublin City. This event has become one of the main highlights in the Irish Beer Calendar in recent years and it is one we look forward to each year.
This year, the Fair was a three-day event, with 5,000 people attending and sampling over 400 variations of brews and an excellent array of foods. Attendees were also treated to some great music from bands such as Carouse, The Mixtape, Pop Gods, The Camembert Quartet and Hurricane Highway.
The weekend seemed like a triple-victory, with both Alltech’s explosively successful event, Rye River receiving multiple awards and the Irish Rugby team emerging victorious against Scotland in the Six Nations. We had the game on the projector, whilst attendees sampled a variety of our ales – each complementing the other. So, we’d like to thank everyone at Alltech and the staff at The Convention Centre for running such an incredible event.
Rye River Seasonal
The fair was especially significant for all of us here at the Rye River Brewery as we were able to showcase our inaugural own-brand beer, our Rye River Seasonal Belgian Imperial Stout, which is the first of five seasonal small batch beers we will be releasing over the coming months. The 8.2% ABV Stout, brewed with Trappist yeasts, was available on draught for the course of the three days and also won a bronze medal at the event in the Dublin Craft Beer Cup. It has since been released in selected stores in a limited capacity (only 2,400 cans), so if you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry! You can find the list of stockists here.
We have received exceptional feedback both at the event and online and we would like to thank you all for the kind words. Check out some of the feedback for yourself with #RyeRiverSeasonal.
We are proud to announce that we made the short trip back up the N4 with a total of 12 medals, from the 18 beers that we had entered into the competition. Our McGargles’ Beers accounted for the vast majority of our medal haul, as they picked up 7 medals. The Crafty Brewing Company range of beers which we brew exclusively for Lidl claimed 3 medals. Our Solas and Rye River Seasonal beers won 1 medal each, respectively. We were presented with these medals on the Thursday night and were able to proudly display them across our brand-new bar for everyone to see! Scroll down to see the which of our beers picked up a prize.
